Annette Hope Kent

I have enjoyed sketching people since my teenage years, but until retirement I did not have the time or the opportunity to develop this interest.  In January 2016 I attended a series of Adult Education painting and drawing courses at Wilson Marriage in Colchester, which explored various mediums, techniques and painting styles. I found the whole experience enjoyable, inspiring and therapeutic, and wanted to continue this exploration.  I joined the Dedham Art Society in 2018 with the intention of meeting and learning from like-minded people.  Having experimented with different mediums I found acrylics to be my medium of choice; appreciating the vibrancy of colour and flexibility that acrylics allow. More recently I have frequently used multi media in my paintings and decoupage to produce colourful boxes and pots.  My areas of interest and subject matter is broad and includes life drawing, portraits, landscapes, seascapes, trees and nature. I would describe my painting style as impressionistic and naïve.
