DAS Plein Air ~ 21st June 2025 - Brightlingsea

Plein air day at Brightlingsea 🎨

A brilliant day out by the coast for some plein air painting. We met for 10am Saturday morning at the café by Brightlingsea Lido before heading off to find our spots. The weather was hot and lively, with plenty of people enjoying the beach, the sea, and the colourful beach huts.

Some artists chose to paint Bateman’s Tower — built in 1883 by John Bateman as a memorial to his daughter and used as a navigation marker — while others focused on the vibrant beach huts or the surrounding buildings and scenery.

There was a great variety of subjects and styles on show, and some really impressive work produced. A thoroughly enjoyable day spent painting in good company.
