Abstract tree Workshop with Sheila Martin -22 May 2025

Shelia very kindly hosted today's workshop. She took us through her mixed media artwork based on trees and landscapes.

A full turnout today with some members working on their own projects.

Shelia presented a display table full of amazing art and mixed media products. She demonstrated her techniques on how to use masking fluid and tapes along with acrylic paints.

Shelia emphasised us all to make sure the mediums were completely dry before removing masking fluids and tapes.

Shelia gave every artist a prepared board for us to get started. It was interesting to blend the paints over the whole board giving a really atmospheric background. We were encouraged to use iridescent paint giving a beautiful luminous effect to our work. We could also use dried leave/ flowers, gold powder and glitters giving our work very interesting mixed media results.

Shelia interacted with us all and gave advice and tips and encouraged us to have lots of expressive fun!
