DAS Plein Air ~ 20 Sept 2025 - Pin Mill

Plein Air at Pin Mill 🎨

The day began under a rather bleak sky, so naturally our first stop was a comforting coffee at the Butt & Oyster. Pin Mill is such a charming spot — full of inspiration at every turn: quaint houses, colourful boats, the riverside pub, and of course the famous old wrecks along the shore.

After we dispersed with our easels, some of us ventured into the woods in search of the so-called “ships’ graveyard.” With the tide creeping in, the atmosphere was haunting yet strangely peaceful — weathered timbers leaning into the water. The old hulls, scarred by salt and time, stood like quiet sentinels of the past, perfect muses for brush and sketchbook alike.

By noon the clouds had lifted and a little sun broke through.

A few of us stayed on for lunch outdoors — the fish and chips were delicious — and with spirits restored, some carried on painting into the afternoon, capturing more of Pin Mill’s quiet charm.
