DAS Takes on Norwich – A Plein Air Day Out !🎨🖌️🛤️🚈

A forecast of heavy rain was never going to dampen the enthusiasm of 13 intrepid DAS plein air members to venture to Norwich on 27 August 2026. Gathering at Norwich Station, having made individual travel arrangements, we set off by 10.30am to suggested painting spots or those of our own choice. Norwich didn’t disappoint with views for everyone to sketch or paint. Rivers with reflections, swans, gnarled trees, quaint streets and ancient buildings including the Cathedral and cloisters and landscapes beyond.

The day not only provided an opportunity to artistically explore and work away from the familiarity of Essex but was also an occasion to socialise with DAS friends, furthering our painting and drawing skills during a supportive and enjoyable outing.

The odd eventual light rain showers did not hinder work produced using a range of medium, some to be completed on returning home, to be shared at a DAS later date meet up.

A plein air whole day trip by train was something new and what a hugely enjoyable and successful adventure it was due to impeccable research and planning. We’re already looking forward to a next long distance plein air !!!
