Floral-Thur 24th September, 2026

The optional theme of this Thursday’s painting together session at the Assembly Rooms was floral, which is always popular with artists. Approximately twenty people attended and whilst some chose to work on their own projects, many chose a floral subject.

Taking inspiration from gardens, photos and magazines, artists worked in a wide variety of media, including coloured pencils, watercolour, pastels, acrylic and oil paint. Some chose to depict a single bloom close up and in great detail, others focussed on whole arrangements and even the wider landscape. Styles ranged from the representational to the more impressionistic , through to the abstract.

An enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
